This is a letter for all the wonderful husbands out there, especially mine. For my #AttitudeOfGratitude, which is a challenge that I have given myself I’m trying to be grateful for everything that God has given to me and all the wonderful things in my life. You can read about it here.
I’ve been pretty radio silent for the last 3 weeks or so, and that’s because we moved! It’s been a very exciting but challenging time. All free time is taken up by packing and cleaning and getting everything ready. My husband works crazy shifts so he had to work his butt off at work and come home just to do the same, which is no fun at all. He’s been a rockstar when I’ve been a mess.
This got me thinking about how sometimes, we take for granted the people around us. It is so easy to just focus on the negative rather than see all the good around us.
So without further ado…
Thanks for putting up with my crap.
I know that you don’t always understand why it takes me so long to get ready in the morning, but you’re patient anyway, and I appreciate it.
I know that you don’t like being late for things, but since marrying me you’ve just gotten (more) use to it.
I know that at certain times of the month I go a bit loco, and you remind me that it’s that time of the month and I need to stop overthinking everything.
In spite of this, you love me anyway.
Thanks for being there.
When I wake up, you’re there.
When I need to talk, you’re there.
When I need a hug, you’re there.
You’ve mastered the art of being dependable, and I know that I can count on you.
Sometimes, I have crazy thoughts. When I walk into a store I think “Husband could just leave me here and not answer his phone and then I would be stranded here, a long ways away from home.” But you’ve never done that and I’m so thankful!
Thanks for loving me.
When you first get married, you know in theory that it’s going to be hard, but you never know the full extent of it until you go through tough times. When these tough times come, and I know that I can count on you and that we are in this together, it assures me of your love for me more than you’ll ever know. It makes me fall in love with you all over again.
One of my favourite quotes about marriage is:
A successful marriage involves falling in love many times, always with the same person ~ Mignon McLaughlin
You love me every day, in ways that I’ve become so accustomed to that, I may forget to appreciate them. There are little things you do all the time for me that I need to remember to be thankful for. You are so good to me.
I also know that you love me because you do weird things around me that you wouldn’t be comfortable doing around anyone else. Only I know how much of a weirdo you truly are.
So thank you Husband, for being my number one draft pick, my Jedi master (and for never turning into Darth Vader), and for being extraordinarily awesome.
I freaking love you.
